The aetiology of primary tokophobia is multifactorial. With this, there is no morbid dread of childbirth and this fear is in stark contrast to the women's prepregnancy and predepression beliefs ( 2). Secondary to depressive illness in pregnancy – Less commonly, prenatal depression may be present with tokophobia. But it could also occur after an obstetrically normal delivery, a miscarriage, a stillbirth, or a termination of pregnancy.
